Does anyone from the first batch have connectivity issues with the Zchip? I can't seem to get mine to register that it's hooked up with the cable to read the map. Drivers for the cable have been installed and I've tried through the USB to serial cable/extender cable, the USB to serial cable alone, and all USB ports with specifying every COM option. COM3 always says no matter what, even when not connected:
"Reading data from COM3
COM3 is not connected to a Z-Chip device.
Invalid Product Code."
All other ports say:
"No device detected on COM(x)"
TTP, should I verify a strong connection to the RPM signal wire? Would that cause a connecting error?

I also had/have the same exact issue you are having. I thought it could just have been the laptop I was using, so I am going to try it with another laptop. Just really haven't gotten around to it. I will try again tomorrow and see what happens. I know some else from the 1st batch also had this issue and posted on here and evom about it.

We tested PC to Zchip connection several times for each unit. Also TTP had to connect to flash the Zchip, right?
It's all in laptop serial settings, USB adapter drivers etc.
No, the RPM wire does not need to be hooked up to connect a PC to the Zchip. The Zchip MUST be connected to your engine harness to get power, key in the ignition and the dash lights need to be on so there is power in the engine bay harness.

Yup, turn the car on and you should be good.

Ignition ACC key position needs to be set to on.

Yes, as far as I recall we did NOT install a mini nuclear rector on board the zchip. It needs to be powered from the car +5V rail.

Does the non name USB adapter come with drivers? Did you install drivers for this second no name USB-serial adapter? Is there a brand name on the CD?

We will have today updated Zchip software, which does not require hand shaking between the Zchip and your PC. You will see immediately if the Zchip is streaming out data. This puts less burden on flaky USB adapters. However you still need right drivers for your noname USB adapter and a right com port selected in the software.

Version 1.0.4 of the Z-Chip Tuner software has been posted at:
http://www.zeitronix.com/zdl/z_chip_software.htm
Changes:
The "Event Log" will show "Reading data successful..." when data has been read from the com port
The highlighted RPM and Load boxes will now have a white background and no rectangle for clearer visibility
This new version should help trouble shoot problems with USB or COM ports. If the Z-Chip software is not showing RPM or Load data then there is no data being read from the COM or USB port. Also the even log will show "No Data..." or "Reading data successful...".
