I've read about another member having the same issue on evom, but I haven't seen anything on this site about it yet.

Basically, if I'm cruising around 3800rpm (usually in 5th) and I left off the gas to slow down a big, between 3600-3200 rpm the car starts bucking and gets really jerky. Then after 3200 rpm it stops. Do you guys know what is causing this? Is it just the way the base tune is? Did you experience this at all on the shop car?

It's getting annoying because this is my DD and I do most of my driving on the highway at these speeds.

Thanks

Has anyone else experienced this problem with the Zchip?

I don't know too much about tuning, but can this be corrected by editing the base map on my zchip?

If you want to email us the mapping on your zchip we can take a look at it.

Were you a first or second batch customer?

I was part of the first batch with a base map. I thought all the base maps were the same? I haven't altered it at all because I don't have the monitoring/data logging programs or the data cable yet.

There are a number of various maps available which is why we took our time to take each parties information regarding octane, elevation, modifications, stock or aftermarket boost control, etc.

That's what I originally thought, but some of the other posts made it sound like they were all the same.

Regardless, I'll try to get a cable and email you the map within the next week. I have to open up the Zchip case to get to the plug right?

My car does the same bucking with no other mods... please let me know if TTP fixes the bucking on vacumn and VERY SLIGHT throttle input at >3500 rpm.

I also experienced this when I had the chip on my car....I have AEM intake, buschur exhaust tho.....I dont know if it was "bucking", but it defenately feels pretty rough when decelarating, I think I even heard a loud backfire coming from the exhaust a couple of times .

I also get backfires on deaccelleration...it also does not seem smooth when i just rev the engine in netural like it takes alot longer for the motor to wind down.

I too get this bucking problem cruising on 95 around 3800rpm. It happens during deceleration and as soon as I give it gas again quite often. Twice its caused a SES light.

I am seeing a new issue. please see if anyone else can duplicate this:

1. car @ operating temps
2. car stationary.
3. In neutral
4. slowly rev car , as you pass 3400-3700 rpm's the tach needle will drop and rpms will fluctuate, you will here poping as well (possible lean misfires)

You can rev past it, but it's absolutely there. You must rev slowly through the 3000-4000 rev to see it. I also verified that it is not present without the Z-chip connected. I believe this is whats causing the bucking on slight throttle input while cruising as well.

I don't have a serial cable or usb-serial adapter yet.

Scott, are you using rpm adjustments on a stock 93 octane sea level map?

..I have experienced the same issue with the bucking. Usually mash the gas through it, or let completely off. It's exactly within the 3400-3700 rpm range also. (93 octane on base map with mbc set to 24psi)

Zeitronix just arrived in Orlando for PRI today, so we'll be discussing a few items with them over the next few days.

WIll the bucking issue be discussed sir?

Yes. There are only a small few that may have this circumstance ever come up. There is an updated firmware in current model ZChips.

Cool, so at least need to get the serial and usb adapter cables to update the firmware huh?

We shipped extra serial cables to TTP before the PRI show. Keep in mind those are standard 9 pin serial cables available at your friendly local computer store.
The first batch of Z chips shipped before the SEMA show has slightly different firmware. We added some more adjustments for dec and smiley face lights after for following batches.
A firmware update requires shipping your box to us. Contact TTP for possible hostage exchange program or ship back straight to us with a 5-10 days down time depends where you are located.

TTP, do you want to chime in on an exchange program or something for the firmware update?

btw: I still haven't gotten around to getting the serial cable yet. I will do that before I flash/exchange my z-chip for with the new firmware. I would like to give them the opportunity to look over my map to see if the issue resides in the tune or somewhere else.

Wait a min...so can we dowload and do the firmware update ourselves or do we have send it to TTP so they can do it?????

The tuning and mapping can be done by the end user. The firmware upgrade would be done by Zeitronix. They would need the box to upgrade it.

Most users have V2 firmware already but there are a few that may choose to send theirs in for updating.

ValentineOne radar detectors have a similar firmware upgrade program, however theirs costs $$$.

Will you cross ship if I provide a tracking number?

Great job on the fix guys. I actually reported this bucking problem on evoM when I first got the chip (customer #1). TTP I have some questions about the software, cables, monitoring ZT-2 equipment, and a question on a certain part (high flow cat). I will be sending my Z-chip in soon. Call you guys tomorrow.

Since the cold weather, mine has been bucking pretty hard, worse than before. Will ship it in soon for the update.

Wait...so just incase, do we send our units to TTP or Zeitronix?!
