Hi everyone,

Since I know some of you guys are already running the z-chip I was wondering if someone could help me out. I got my z-chip/mbc yesterday :) , but I'm unsure on how to install the mbc properly. I am a noob on this so I'm sorry if this is common knowledge to others . I tried searching through the "how-to's" section of evom (http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthread.php?t=327673) and read a couple of threads but just ended up being more confused :(. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks.

It's actually a lot easier on the X than it has been on previous models.

Remove the inlet pipe between the turbo and the aluminum center piece for easy access, pop off the clamp & hose on the turbo inlet and the wastegate and remove hose from the boost solenoid also. Now, simply install the MBC in line between the turbo inlet and the wastegate.

Thanks for the reply UFO :) You woulndt happen to have a pic after the mbc is installed would you? I'm more of a visual learner...lol....anyway if you dont than that's ok. I will give it a try just like you mentioned. Thanks.

I'm at work right now. When I get off later I'll try and snap a few.

OK, so first thing you need to do is create some room. Remove the intake pipe between the aluminum center section by the engine cover and the turbo intake by undoing the 2 clamps circled below and removing the pipe.

Next find the electronic boost solenoid circled below. I also mounted the MBC by removing the front screw and clamping the MBC in place.

Find the 2 inlets circled and remove the clamps and hoses from them.
http://www.hangar13.net/evo/mbc1.jpg

Remove the clamp and hose from the rubo inlet circled (it faces the firewall on the turbo inlet) and connect a new hose from there to the bottom of your Unos.
http://www.hangar13.net/evo/mbc2.jpg

Now locate the wastegate and remove the clamp/hose from there (this will be the last connection so keep hold of the tubing), add a new hose and run that to the side of the Unos.

You're done :).

Awesome! :) Thanks for the pics UFO :D I took a look at it yesterday and it made more sense after you explained it briefly, but with these pics I'm sure I can do it now. Btw did you have trouble inserting the hose into the mbc inlets? The hoses seem rather small...

Haha, yes! The hoses fit on the inlets on the wastegate & turbo inlet without too much effort but they're a bitch to get on the larger boost controller. If you heat up the hose with a hairdryer then it goes on a little easier or a dab of washing up liquid can help too.

Wait, so leave the hoses that go to the stock boost solenoid off? Does this apply to EBC?

Starting from the turbo inlet, my boost hose runs from it, then through my AEM boost solenoid (that came with my Tru-boost), through a T fitting (that T's over to the stock boost solenoid), and then to the internal wastegate.

Should I just have it run from my turbo inlet, into one port on my AEM boost solenoid, out the other port, and to the internal wastegate? Leave the stock solenoid disconnected?

P.S. Sorry about hijacking!

I found the answer. Yes, the stock boost controller becomes obsolete and should have the hoses disconnected and barbs capped. Leave the wire harness in to avert a CEL though.

This is probably the cause of my spiking.... I hope.

I hooked up in accordance with the pictures. Is it possible the description to hook up the wastegate to the bottom of the Unos is incorrect or reversed. I spiked to all over the place with this setup even with the mbc all the way down?

I noted the "Forge" site stated the wastegate connection goes to the top (side) Unos connection?

Thanks for any help!

The hose on the turbo outlet pipe (black) and the wastegate nipple only need to be removed and new lines installed.

Black turbo outlet pipe nipple to unos nipple opposite the adjustment dial.

Wastegate actuator nipple to the side port of the Forge UNOS.

NO LINES NEED TO BE REMOVED FROM THE BOOST CONTROL SOLENOIDS (BCS).

Since two of the nipples on the BCS go into a y hose and then to the wastegate. Once we disconnect the hose should we cap the end or just leave it open?

Thanks again!

Doesn't need to be capped. We've left the intake end alone. I makes no difference.

Yes, sorry, the instructions were the wrong way round: my mistake. You will spike horribly the way I described, but I edited the instructions to be correct.

Got it all going and what a difference! The car really runs!!!

If no lines need be removed, which side does the tee to the Boost Control Solenoids end up on? The wastegate side or the turbo outlet side? I'm assuming that the writeup is correct and that you will have to remove the lines to the solenoids.

Thanks,
Chris

If you leave the lines connected to the solenoid then they don't go anywhere. Just zip tie them out of the way or leave them dangling. I only removed the lines because it looked cleaner. There's really no need to remove them from the solenoid end but they no longer have any purpose and should not connect to anything.

Won't the solenoids still actuate and pull un-metered air into the intake? Should they be capped?

TTP could you post a couple simple pics of the way you hook up your MBC, I need a little verification on how to actually take mine off real quick!

okay, so i unplug the hoses right off their respective ends......now which ones go back to those now empty spots on wastegate and turbo inlet? ps you guys really went simple on the photo huh? lol

TTP Engineering

Neither, you use the stock wastegate hoses that are teed into each other and put the side with the pill inside the line on the boost side and the other hose on the wastegate side.

Your stock hoses were left intake and connected to your stock boost control solenoid.

So I finally have a photo to my question. In the photo are the hoses on the T bar that I think is the one to hook back to stock. Which one in the photo goes where? Anyone? I don't want to keep asking TTP all the time. thanks.11

Red to wastegate. It appears the extra clamp on the line holds the pill in place inside of the line.

Thanks guys a shit ton. It's not that hard but it's like a bomb, I didn't know whether to cut the blue or red wire! lol Got most the parts in, ready to come up and tune again shortly.
